BIBD among ‘Best Banks in Asia-Pacific’

The recognition of BIBD as the country winner for Brunei Darussalam was made during the recent IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings in Bali, Indonesia.
“BIBD is humbled by this achievement and is sincerely grateful to the people of Brunei Darussalam for the unceasing trust and support in BIBD,” said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah in his capacity as the Chairman of BIBD.
“This achievement showcases the capability of Brunei’s institution and its people onto a regional level, in line with His Majesty’s Vision 2035 to be a nation widely recognised for the accomplishments of its well-educated and highly-skilled people as measured by international standards,” the minister added.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew said that BIBD will continue to build on this success and further strengthen its position as one of the best banks in the region.
Reflecting on Brunei’s progression as a viable destination for investment and FDI, the minister added that this achievement would sharpen the bank’s focus on promoting financial inclusion and awareness within the country.
Meanwhile, BIBD Managing Director Mubashar Khokhar said BIBD is thankful for the award that recognises the stellar support of the government and the dedication of its stakeholders and regulators.
The bank also appreciates the trust from its customers as its builds alliances with them, he added.
The Global Finance Publisher and Editorial Director Joseph D Giarraputo said that the winners are world-class leaders, responding adeptly to shifting political winds, new technologies and changing market conditions.
On top of the Global Finance award, BIBD has already collected the 'Best Mobile Banking Application' and the 'Best Digital Bank in Brunei for 2017' by World Finance, as well as 'Best Retail Bank' in Brunei Darussalam by The Asian Banker for the sixth consecutive year.
