BRUNEI DARUSSALAM ISLAMIC FINANCE (#BDIF)

Brunei Darussalam is located in the heart of Asia Pacific and is home to over 400,000 people. Since the discovery of oil in the 1920s, Brunei Darussalam and its people have greatly prospered and enjoy a high GDP per capita. The sultanate is widely known for the sovereignty of the monarchy and the in-depth practices of Islamic principles and teachings, by incorporating Islam in its people’s daily lives which is apparent from various angles, such as the food industry, hospitality industry, as well as the financial services industry.

Brunei Darussalam Islamic Finance (BDIF) is an initiative to support His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s aspirations to become an international hub for Islamic Finance.

Our unique value proposition lies in our strong Islamic philosophy which contributes to the purity of Brunei Darussalam’s Islamic Finance. The country’s continued political and macroeconomic stability, favorable ties with our international partners and strategic location are conducive for foreign direct investments to collectively participate in Brunei Darussalam.

In over 20 years of inception, Brunei Darussalam’s Islamic financial ecosystem now comprises of Islamic banks, takaful operators, Islamic investment dealers, sukuk and other ancillary services. Islamic financial assets are more than 50% of the total market share. There are efforts underway to deepen the Islamic financial market.

BDIF aims to showcase the Sultanate’s Islamic Financial eco-system since the first Islamic Financial Institution was established in 1991. The BDIF website aims to be a gateway to Brunei’s Islamic Finance and contain information on our comprehensive end-to-end regulation, the market players and their products, the people that drives it and the education and training available for continuous professional development.
